KEEV's Restaurant Kulim

BS and I went to Keev's Restaurant at Kulim for our lunch last Sunday. This was our first time visit, the foods were good and environment were really nice and cozy. Keev's Restaurant served international cuisine including Malay, Indian, Chinese and western foods.

Restaurant Ju Heng - Tom Yam noodles & porridge

This is one of my favorite restaurant for dinner, usually I'll order for take away before going to fetch my baby Zi Ming from the baby sitter.

This restaurant is located at Jln Raja Uda, Apollo wet market, business hours is 6pm-3am and close on Tuesday. Although it claims that it starts at 6pm, I recommend you to visit the restaurant after 6.45pm. Usually they still preparing at around 6.15pm-6.30pm and will only accept order after finished prepare their kitchen and ingredients.

Arrived at the restaurant yesterday at around 6.30pm.

One of the worker was frying their famous deep fried fish.

Firstly, take a plate from the stall. 

Then, choose your ingredients and put on your plate. After that choose type of noodles and soup (Tom Yam, light soup or porridge). 

Finally, waiting for my turn as I wanted to take away. For those who plan to having there, you can go ahead to the table and order drinks, they will bring your food to you... So impress with their memory on remembering every single customer's order.

You can either choose to sit inside or outside the shop.

Chaw Choon Dim Sum (超全点心)

Chaw Choon Restaurant is famous dim sum restaurant in Butterworth area. The main shop or the earliest shop is at Heng Choon Thian Road and they have expanded their business to another new shop at Ong Yi How Road near Raja Uda. They serve a wide variety of good dim sum with reasonable prices. They only open in the morning and it will be very crowded during weekends and public holidays. 

Photo below was taken during Grace and Chin See visit to Raja Uda on last Oct 2011, we went for dim sum breakfast at Chaw Choon restaurant (Jalan Ong Yi How branch) which is considered quite near to my apartment.

Next photos were taken last Saturday (21st Apr 2012) at Chaw Choon restaurant (Jalan Heng Choon Thian main shop). Me and BS stopped for dim sum breakfast at about 5.30am before going to Penang airport to take his early flight. It's still early and not many customer, i think we were the second customer, but still there was a wide variety of dim sum which were ready to be served.

 

Wu Zhen water village Dec 2008

Interested in exploring one of the famous water village with a history of 1,300 years? Then, you should consider to pay a visit to Wu Zhen. Wu Zhen lies in the far north-east of Zhejiang province, about one and a half hour by road from Shanghai.



We visited Wu Zhen at the end of December 2008, it was considered as low season in December and therefore there was only a few tours visiting Wu Zhen. It was a freezing day and I think it was only roughly 1-3 degree Celcius. FYI, we took a 1 day tour from Shanghai which was around RMB140 per person, the package did not include meal and there was a Chinese speaking tour guide.

We enjoyed so much in the unique experience of Wu Zhen, it was peaceful and everything seem so authentic, and the most important thing is it was not crouded in December. Wu Zhen was not being too commercialised with the mix of restaurants and souvenir shops compared to Zhou Zhuang water village. Wuzhen's old buildings have been preserved and well maintained rather than restored. It was a unique experience and joy exploring on foot in this lovely town.



Wu Zhen is a living town, where some of these traditional houses were stayed by local villagers. We saw some of them were watching television and playing mahjong.

No passenger ride on the boat mainly because the weather is so cold in December.

Dim Sum at Tsing Yi （青衣城）

For those who want some experiences in Hong Kong Dim Sum, you may try it in Tsing Yi Complex. Actually Dim Sum is considered a lunchtime experience, however most restaurants now serve throughout the day and we decided to take it as our breakfast. We took MTR to Tsing Yi station in the morning about 9am, we could only do some window shopping at the complex as most of the shops were still yet to open for business.



We took Dim Sum at the "稻香" restaurant in the Tsing Yi complex, we're required to register and take our number and waited for about 20mins for our turn. The restaurant was crowded and we have to share the table with other people. The restaurant was comfortable and clean, the dim sum was delicious and not so oily, the price was also resonable, it was only HKD75 for our dim sum breakfast.

You may also consider to have dinner at Yau Ma Tei Temple street for the famous claypot rice (煲仔饭）and fried oyster with duck egg (蠔饼）. (Highly recommended!!) It was not expensive but very delicious, we enjoyed the food and surely will come back for this for the next visit to HK.
